OTAKI Kit
No. OY2-28-400, REPUBLIC P-47D, 1/48 SCALE
This is a
very good kit of the Razorback P-47. It consists of 53 green-grey
plastic parts, two clear parts, a decal sheet for three aircraft--two
USAAF and one RAF, two instruction sheets with assembly and painting/marking
information for three aircraft--one sheet is in English and one
is in Japanese, and a seperate sheet of two color side-views by
Rikyu Watanabe. The kit is as new with all vinyl parts in their
original plastic bags, perfect decals, and the insert and instructions
in as new condition. The box is excellent. (With the still-sealed
parts, two instruction sheets, fresh decals, the Watanabe prints,
and the great box art, this is as nice a collectible kit as I've
offered. SOLD! (The model is 1/48 scale not 1/50 as the Price
Guide indicates.)

SPITFIRE,
John W. R. Taylor and Maurice F. Allward
This beautiful tribute to
the Spitfire was published in Leicester, Leics., United Kingdom
by the Harborough Publishing Co. Ltd in 1946. It is a near contemporary
record of the Spitfire's activities during the Second World War
and includes many b/w photographs, drawings and diagrams, details
of Spitfire equipped squadrons, the building of the aircraft and
the variants. This is more an appreciation of, and romance with,
the aircraft than it is an objective history--it was written too
close to the wars' end to be that. But it is filled with many
beautiful photos plus detail drawings and a great fold-out cutaway
of the MK XIVe. 8" x 11", 119 pp. My copy is in VERY
GOOD condition with a small crack in the binding between pages
2 and 3 and some slight fading of the spine. US$50.00.
