The Astaire Story consists of a cloth-bound red album (1) containing four translucent-blue LPs of Flip Philips, tenor saxophone, Charles Shavers, trumpet, Oscar Peterson, piano, Barney Kessel, guitar, Ray Brown, bass Alvin Stoller, drums and Fred Astaire, vocalist and tap-dancer (4) ; six David Stone Martin black and white prints of Astaire at the session (5) and a color print of a Stone Martin painting of the session (2)(3); eleven pages of black and white photos of the session (6) and a color photo of Astaire at the session-these are by either Gjon Mili or Paul Nodler; five bound-in pale-blue envelopes-four for the records and one for the prints; a song-index page; an Astaire autograph and edition number page (7); three pages of notes by Norman Granz or Fred Astaire; end-papers, a frontispiece, etc. The set was produced by Norman Granz and was manufactured by Mercury Records in about 1952.
